As part of our Housing platform we have a strategic land portfolio of 3,550 acres, stretching from Luton to Cardiff. Where appropriate, this land is being promoted for the creation of new, much-needed, high quality housing communities in order to sustainably address the UK's housing and economic needs.
The housing shortage crisis remains one of the biggest threats to the future of the UK’s economy. The traditional housebuilder model cannot meet this target alone. To tackle this, we need a new approach. That is why Legal & General is applying a unique multi-tenure strategy in order to speed up housing delivery and significantly reduce completion timescales. This means using our long term capital and housing capabilities across all tenures, to deliver Build to Sell housing alongside Build to Rent, later living, student accommodation and affordable housing in order to create thriving, sustainable communities. As such, we are committed to bringing forward housing development as quickly as the planning process and market allows.
Where land is not fit for housing, we will work with the Local authorities to bring forward plans that support major employment uses, helping to stimulate the local economy.
