John Bromley

Head of Clean Energy

John leads strategy and direct investments in Clean Energy infrastructure and technology including NTR, Oxford PV, Tokamak Energy Ltd and Upside Energy. John’s role is to explore opportunities to increase Legal & General’s presence in the UK clean energy sector, particularly seeking long-term partnerships with developers, operators and technology providers. John also works closely with LGIM, LGR and L&G’s property and housing businesses, to identify and develop low carbon energy solutions and opportunities. John has over 15 years’ experience in key roles working in infrastructure and PPP/PFI investment, including in planning and procurement, structuring, project financing and delivery of £5-10bn of major projects in the water, wastewater, waste-to-energy, health, defence and clean energy sectors.

Prior to joining Legal & General Capital in 2015, John managed an institutional equity fund and asset management team based in Europe with a portfolio of 15 utility-scale renewable energy assets (c.800MW) located throughout Europe, including onshore wind, offshore wind and solar. John led the fund’s consortium investment in the construction of the 367MW Walney Offshore Wind Farm - the first UK offshore wind project to be funded by institutional equity. John supported colleagues in L&G with its first debt financing of an extension to the Walney asset and sits on the L&G Group Environment Committee.
